Introduction
Envisioning ‘a just and peaceful society with gender equality’ Jagaran Nepal was established in 2002 A.D. as a not-for-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) in Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) under Organization Registration Act, 2034 B.S. Since its inception, Jagaran Nepal has been promoting, capacitating and empowering women in all decision-making roles including political, social and economic areas of the society.
Through its work in the last two decades, Jagaran Nepal has established itself as a leading organization working in the sector of women’s equal and meaningful participation in decision making roles within every structure of community and the state. Its major contribution has been to established the agenda – “Women in Politics” in Nepal, which has been expanded and adopted by various other organizations.
Apart from this, Jagaran Nepal has continuously worked to organize, support and advocate for human rights, social protection, foster democratic practices, minimized the impact of Climate change on communities and many more areas.

OBJECTIVES
- Create an enabling environment for women’s equal and meaningful participation in all public and political spheres through policy advocacy, skills transfer, and access to knowledge and information to make women leaders competent and self-reliant.
- Enhance women’s economic empowerment by expanding their knowledge of, access to, and control over financial resources.
- Address and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, disaster, food security and other contemporary issues on women and girls.
- Engage all stakeholder of the society, especially men, to address existing issues faced by women through collaborative action at the community level.
- Institutionalize the achievements of women rights movement so far in the social, cultural, economic, and political realm.
- Conduct research and periodic monitoring activities to generate evidences and insights to strengthen women’s active engagement in the political and public domains.
