WOMEN'S ACCESS TO AND CONTROL OVER TO ECONOMIC RESOURCES

WOMEN'S ACCESS TO AND CONTROL OVER TO ECONOMIC RESOURCES

Throughout the decades of continued involvement in women empowerment in the country, JN has learnt that investing in women’s economic empowerment sets a direct path towards gender equality. Many international commitments support women’s economic empowerment, including the Beijing Platform for Action, CEDAW , ILO conventions on gender equality. In line with these, JN has been conducting this program with the objective of minimizing organized suppression, oppression, discrimination and violence against the communities deprived of opportunities especially, women Dalit and children form minority communities.

This theme of JN aims to increase the reach of women in local sources and improving their financial situation as economic part turns to be major hindrance for upliftment of potential women leaders in their social and political career. Many skill development trainings are provided to more than 500 women from Sunsari, Jhapa, Morang, Panchthar, Taplejung, Illam, Kavre distrcicts makig them able to enhance their skills development and help them in income generating activities. Various consultative workshops are conducted in order to connect the service providers, Nepal Government agencies and concerned stakeholders for accessing local resources including government services and facilities in regard to health, education and agriculture. Similarly, JN has helped women in rural areas to form local cooperatives making them independent and financially stable.
